2nd International Workshop on Laser Ultrasonics for Metallurgy

It is our pleasure to announce the second workshop on laser ultrasonics for metallurgy, to be hosted by the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver Canada from April 26-27th, 2016.

The first workshop was held in November 2013. It has attracted a number of researchers and industrial partners from around the world and proved to be a perfect place to discover or learn more about the technology and its applications.

Laser ultrasonics for metallurgy (LUMet) is a Canadian technology that was developed at NRC’s Boucherville to the stage of a commercial sensor. The commercial LUMet system is installed as an attachment to the Gleeble 3500 thermo-mechanical simulator in UBC’s Centre for Metallurgical Process Engineering (CMPE) and in other group of research in Europe and China. LUMet offers exciting opportunities to further exploit the capabilities of this unique sensing technique and to extend the range of its applicability in metallurgy. The scope of the workshop is to provide a forum for discussing the state-of-the-art of the LUMet technology and to promote its further use in the metallurgical community.
